Governor vetoes home care regulation bill

South Dakota Republican Gov. Larry Rhoden vetoed a bill on March 25 that would require state licensing of non-medical home care agencies, his second veto of the 2026 legislative session.The vetoed bill is sponsored by Brookings Republican Rep.

Plaque unveiled at South Dakota Capitol for 100-year-old Medal of Honor recipient

PIERRE – There’s a new name in the South Dakota Hall of Honor at the state Capitol building.One-hundred-year-old South Dakota native and retired U.S. Navy Capt. E. Royce Williams was celebrated at a March 25 ceremony where a plaque honoring him was unveiled, although Williams did not attend.
South Dakota lawmakers approved the state’s education funding budget which included a 1.4 percent increase in funding over last year’s budget. Local educator speaks to 1.4 percent increase in state funding for schools and the impact

On March 12 South Dakota lawmakers approved the state’s education funding budget which included a 1.4 percent increase in funding over last year’s budget which Webster Area superintendent Jim Block said he was grateful for because of the original proposed no-increase flat budget.
