Jorgenson places first for Bearcats wrestling at MVPCS Invitational

Webster Area wrestlers participated in the MVPCS Invitational in Plankinton Dec. 21. As a team the Bearcats placed ninth overall, but Webster Area wrestler Haeden Jorgenson won the first place position for the 138 pound weight class.

Bearcats boys basketball secures first win in two game slate

Webster Area Bearcats secured their first win of the season on the second half of two consecutive games. The Bearcats defeated the Ipswich Tigers Dec. 21 after losing to the Britton- Hecla Braves Dec.20. Head coach Jared Vergeldt said of his teams’ performance it was a tale of two games.

Groton Area girls basketball slash West Central

Groton Area girls basketball hosted the West Central Trojans Dec. 20. In the contest the Tigers won 45-35.On the season the Tigers record now stands at 3-1 with their sole loss coming against the Hamlin Chargers Dec. 13 by three points.

Webster Area girls basketball wins consecutive games

Webster Area girls basketball team rattled off two straight wins after defeating the Britton-Hecla Braves and the Ipswich Tigers Dec. 20 and 21. Head coach Mike Dunse said his team has improved in all aspects of the game and has started to play with confidence.

Trojans slay Tigers in boys basketball matchup

Groton Area Tigers boys basketball took on the West Central Trojans Dec. 20 in a home contest. The Tigers lost the game 38-54.The Tigers struggled to shoot the ball from the two point range and beyond the arch. As a team the Tigers finished 8-27 from two and 6-17 from three.

Waubay-Summit boys basketball split weekend games

Waubay-Summit boys basketball headed into action Dec. 20 and Dec. 21. In the Dec. 20 contest the Mustangs prevailed over Waverly-South Shore and the following day the Mustangs succumbed to Leola/ Frederick Area.The Mustangs record is 2-2 after the two game slate.

Mustangs escape Bearcats in boys basketball contest

Going on the road the Waubay-Summit Mustangs squared off against the Webster Area Bearcats in a contest the Mustangs survived with a one point victory. Head coach Mark Amdahl said he is happy his team got the victory, but the effort needs to continually be given for the entire game.
