Waubay/Summit runners looking to freshen up after back to back meets

Waubay/Summit cross country competed in the Bank Invite meet Sept. 13 at the Whetstone Creek Golf Course in Milbank.Carsyn Grebner placed 62nd in the 4k with a time of 21:10.62 and Owen Nelson was 64th in 21:22.62.Grey Christofferson placed 54th for the girls 4k in 26:13.34.

Mustangs volleyball falters but recovers

Waubay/Summit Mustangs volleyball came up short Sept. 4 in Ipswich against the Tigers.The three sets ended with scores of 21-25, 18-25 and 15-25 to hand the Mustangs their first loss of the season.

Webster cross country places well in Britton meet

Webster ran in the Redfield Invite meet Sept. 4 at Fisher Grove Country Club.“This was a nice big meet. There were approximately 34 teams and 456 runners from sixth through 12th grade. We had some great competitions here,” coach Cheryl McCreary said.Varsity athletes ran in the 5k distance.

Waubay/Summit runners participate in Redfield meet

Waubay/Summit cross country team competed at the Redfield Invite Sept. 4 at the Fisher Grove Country Club.Carsyn Grebner was the Mustangs only runner for the 5k distance finishing in 28:27.04 for 83rd.Owen Nelson ran the 4k race in 19:35.00 and for the girls Grey Christofferson finished in 24:11.

Groton Area volleyball remains undefeated

Groton Area varsity volleyball won their third straight match to start the season at home against Sisseton Sept. 4 with set scores of 25-12, 25-14 and 25-21.The tigers went 63 of 71 on team serving with 13 aces. On the attack they were 73 for 89 including 33 kills and also had 30 assists.

Groton girls cross country places third in Redfield

Groton Area’s girls varsity cross country team placed third at the Redfield Invite Sept. 4 at Fisher Grove Country Club.Ryelle Gilbert finished the 5k distance in 19:30.29 to place fourth. She was followed by Kella Tracy 20:25.35 for seventh and Ashlynn Warrington in 22:27.36 for 32nd.
