Mustangs varsity volleyball sweeps opponent following Northwestern tournament finish

Waubay/Summit volleyball competed in the Northwestern Tournament Oct. 11 in Mellette and in three matches had a record of 1-2.“Overall, I am pleased with how the girls played Saturday. We came out strong against Aberdeen Roncalli, taking the win in three sets,” coach Shonda Holscher said.

Webster Area football keeps it close against Milbank

Webster Area Bearcats hosted Milbank Bulldogs Oct. 3. Despite only trailing 8-14 at halftime Webster couldn’t manage any more scores and fell 8-22.“The amount of growth this group of guys has shown this year is incredible.

Bearcats volleyball stays hot with two more wins

Webster Area volleyball played at home against Leola/Frederick Area Oct. 6 and swept the visiting Titans 3-0 with set scores of 25-11, 25-21 and 25-16.Just one day later Oct. 7 the Bearcats took on Tiospa Zina away in Agency Village and once again won 3-0 with set scores of 25-6, 25-17, and 25-13.

Three Groton Area runners place first in Sisseton

Groton Area Tigers cross country competed in the Sisseton XC meet Oct. 2 at the Valley View Country Club in Sisseton.Jayden Schwan won the boys varsity 5k finishing first in 17:43.32. He was followed by Blake Malsam in 26:22.92 for 22nd.

Waubay/Summit volleyball takes loss in close match

Waubay/Summit varsity volleyball played away at Langford Area Oct. 2 but fell in five sets 2-3 with set scores of 25-18, 21-25, 25-16, 22-25 and 11-15.Gracia Althoff was a perfect 20 for 20 on serves and the team as a whole managed nine aces.

Bearcats cross country set to host Region lA meet

Webster Area cross country traveled to Sisseton Oct. 2 for the Sisseton XC meet at Valley View Country Club.Hannah Sonstebo was the Bearcats highest placer on the day finishing third for the girls varsity 5k race in 22:51.87. She was followed by Remi Hubsch who placed 13th in 31:30.02.

Groton Area halts football losing streak with blowout victory

Groton Area varsity football traveled to Aberdeen Oct. 3 to play Aberdeen Roncalli and came away with their second victory of the season 55-6 ending a five game skid.The Tigers carried the ball 37 times for 226 yards as a team led by Ryder Schelle with 18 carries for 102 yards and one touchdown.

Waubay/Summit competed in the Sisseton XC cross country meet Oct. 2 in Sisseton at Valley View Country Club.Mustangs had two runners compete in the boys junior varsity 4k race with Carsyn Grebner placing 21st in 19:57.06 and Owen Nelson finishing 22nd in 20:07.60.Waubay/Summit’s next race is Oct.

Bearcats cross country prepares for conference meet in Webster

Webster Area ran in the CWL Invite Sept. 25 on the Clark Municipal golf course and came away with an eighth place finish for the boys varsity team in the 5k race.Bearcats were led by Grady Wagner who placed 24th in 21:15.07. He was followed by Alec Garrett in 22:05.37 for 33rd, Jase Voss in 23:27.
