Bearcat boys take back-to-back basketball wins

Webster Area boys varsity basketball team traveled to Aberdeen Jan. 2 to compete against Aberdeen Roncalli Cavaliers and took a 55-52 win. Quarter scores for the game were not provided.“We had a very good defensive plan heading into the game.

During a Dec. 21 game against Britton-Hecla Braves, Webster Area sophomore Georgia Vergeldt took command of the Bearcat’s offense, sinking a school record six three-pointers in the 62-39 victory.

Groton Area boys faced off against Vermillion Tanagers Jan. 2 in Groton for a varsity basketball game and suffered their second loss of the season 57-66. Quarter scores for the game were 18-16, 34-28, 47-50 and 57-66.

Bearcat boy wrestlers place seventh in home meet

Webster Area Bearcat boys wrestled in the Webster Area Invitational Jan. 3 at Webster Armory and placed seventh out of 18 teams with 81.5 points.120Vance Tollifson did not place with a record of 0-2 after being eliminated by Chance Miller of Ipswich/ Bowdle by fall in 0:26.
