Following a convincing first playoff win over Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots Waubay/Summit boys basketball team advanced to take on Leola/ Frederick Titans March 6 and despite holding a five point lead at halftime fell 56-66.

Tulare Patriots to advance to the SoDak 16, Waubay/Summit Mustangs traveled to Huron March 5 and took the floor against Corsica-Stickney Jaguars. With a win meaning a trip to the state tournament and a loss meaning an end to their season, Mustangs fell in a heartbreaker 32-38.

With a second seed in the Region 1 tournament on the line Webster Area boys varsity basketball team took on Florence/ Henry Falcons for the Bearcats final game of the regular season Feb. 27 in Webster. Bearcats emerged with a 66-57 victory to secure a home playoff game.

Groton girls advance to SoDak 16 after double overtime win

Following a trouncing of Britton-Hecla Braves in the opening round of region playoffs, Groton Area girls basketball team hosted Milbank Bulldogs Feb. 26 in Groton and in a thriller, which took double overtime to decide, the Tigers escaped with a 54-52 win.
