Tiger wrestlers take multiple individual top place finishes

Groton Area wrestlers attended multiple meets with the girls varsity team competing in the Governor Girls Wrestling Invite Jan. 23 in Pierre, placing 12th with 40.5 points and the boys wrestling in the Kingsbury County Invitational Jan. 24 in Arlington placing seventh with 124.5 points.

Langford boys take second straight game

Langford Area Lions took the court Jan. 24 for a boys varsity basketball game against North Central Thunder and emerged with their second straight win in a 54-46 victory. Quarter scores for the game were 14-5, 23-19, 40-32 and 5446.

Three Bearcat girls place in Pierre wrestling tournament

Webster Area girls varsity wrestlers traveled to Pierre Jan. 23 to attend the Governor Girls Wrestling Invite and managed a ninth place finish among 18 total teams with 41.5 points and three placing athletes.

Tiger girls hold opponent to single digits in win

Groton Area girls varsity basketball team hosted Tiospa Zina Wambdi Jan. 15 in Groton and dominated in a 71-3 victory. Quarter scores for the game were 30-1, 49-3, 57-3 and 71-3.Tigers made 29 of their 44 two-pointers, three of nine shots from behind the arc and four of eight free throws.

Three Webster Area boy wrestlers place in Gettysburg tournament

Webster Area boys attended a triangular dual meet in Redfield Jan. 15 against Groton Area Tigers and Redfield Pheasants but finished with a record of 0-2 after a 23-42 loss to Redfield and 6-75 loss to Groton.Groton Area 120Vance Tollifson lost his match to Wyatt Hagen by fall in 0:15.

Bearcat girls fall twice on the road

Webster Area girls went on the road to Hamlin Jan. 15 for a varsity basketball game with the Chargers but were overpowered in a 21-54 loss. Quarter scores for the game were 4-13, 9-29, 17-46 and 21-54.

Waubay/Summit boys took the court Jan. 19 in Britton for a varsity boys basketball matchup with Britton-Hecla Braves and narrowly fell in a 41-46 loss. Quarter scores for the game were 11-11, 26-25, 34-36 and 41-46.

Multiple Groton Area wrestlers reach podium

Groton Area Tiger wrestlers competed in multiple tournaments with the boys attending the Battler Invitational wrestling tournament Jan. 17 in Gettysburg placing eighth with 106.5 points and the girls wrestling in the Harrisburg Girls tournament Jan. 16 in Harrisburg and placed 16th with 28 points.

Riding a five game win streak Waubay/Summit Mustangs traveled to Britton Jan. 19 to face off with Britton-Hecla Braves and came away with a 4822 win.Waubay/Summit then hosted Milbank Bulldogs in Summit Jan. 20 and saw their six game run come to an end with a 42-57 loss.
