Two Bearcat girls headed to state wrestling tournament

Webster Area girls varsity wrestlers went on the road Feb. 19 in De Smet for the SDHSAA Girls Region 1 tournament and placed eighth of 22 teams with 61 points. Bearcat wrestlers Macee McGregor and Jocelyn Rumpca placed in the top four and qualified for the SDHSAA Girls State Championship Feb.

Five competing Webster Area boys make state wrestling tournament

Webster Area boys varsity wrestlers hosted the SDHSAA Region 1B wrestling tournament Feb. 21 in Webster and as a team placed ninth of 19 schools with 96.5 points. All five of the Bearcats wrestlers placed in the top four and qualified for the SDHSAA Boys State Championship Feb. 26-28 in Sioux Falls.

Bearcat boys falter in Milbank, look to rebound in region tournament

Webster Area boys entered their Feb. 19 game against Milbank Bulldogs with a four game win streak and their regional tournament on the horizon but were defeated 5464. Quarter scores for the game were 7-13, 19-28, 3445 and 54-64.“Controlling the glass has been a key to our success this year.

Mustang boys close out regular season with bang

Looking for a strong finish to their regular season Waubay/Summit Mustang boys traveled to Watertown Feb. 19 to take on Great Plains Lutheran Panthers and emerged with a 49-42 victory. Quarter scores for the game were 9-9, 20-22, 34-34 and 49-42.

Lion boys nearly topple strong Ipswich basketball team

Langford Area boys took the court Feb. 21 in Aberdeen to face off with Aberdeen Roncalli Cavaliers but suffered a 43-63 defeat. Quarter scores for the game were 13-21, 18-37, 34-59 and 4363.Lions scored on 13 of 34 two-point attempts, four of 13 threes and five of 10 free throws.

Bearcat girls eliminated from playoffs with loss to Sisseton

For their final game of the regular season Webster Area girls basketball team traveled to Milbank Feb. 19 to take on Milbank Bulldogs but were defeated 39-62. Quarter scores for the game were 9-14, 1730, 28-47 and 39-62.

Groton wrestling moves on to regions

Webster Area wrestlers took to the mat Feb. 22 in Groton with 25 kids competing. Upcoming meets include March 7 in Sisseton and regions at Britton March 14.

Multiple Tiger wrestlers qualify for state

Groton Area Tiger wrestlers competed in multiple tournaments with the boys attending the SDHSAA Region 1B wrestling tournament Feb. 21 in Webster placing sixth of 17 teams with 107 points and the girls attending the SDHSAA Girls Region 1 tournament Feb.
