Strong effort in regions falls short to end Lions season

Langford Area Lions wrapped up their basketball regular season Feb. 27 in Langford against Waverly- South Shore Coyotes with their largest margin of victory on the year in a 75-50 win. Quarter scores for the game were 17-9, 3823, 57-32 and 75-50.

SDHSAA board receives warning about legislative interference in other states

PIERRE – A report on this year’s legislative bills that may have affected the South Dakota High School Activities Association led to a warning about state associations that are suffering from legislative interference. The SDHSAA board of directors got the report at their meeting March 4.

Unsportsmanlike conduct noted at state wrestling tournament

PIERRE – While no one has tracked whether it was worse than last year, officials of the South Dakota High School Activities Association noted that there seemed to be a rise in unsportsmanlike activity at this year’s state wrestling tournament.

Wrestling duals tournament may be on the way out

PIERRE – Scheduling difficulties, as well as other factors, may lead to the demise of the state wrestling duals tournament. At its meeting March 4, members of the South Dakota High School Activities Association board of directors learned about possibility of discontinuing the tournament.

Mustang girls dominate in region games to make SoDak 16

With an eight game win streak Waubay/Summit Mustang girls varsity basketball team hosted Great Plains Lutheran Panthers Feb. 19 in Waubay and dominated in a 53-31 win.“We got off to a fast start in transition this game and never looked back.

Rausch awarded Region 1 coach of the year in final season

After 16 years as Webster Area’s head wrestling coach, numerous state wrestling championship appearances and a head coaching career spanning back to 1997, Wade Rausch is attending his final wrestling state championship before his retirement at the end of the school year.
