Whistle Stop is open just in time for the 4th of July. Located on Highway 12 between Webster and Waubay owners Sam and Rebekah Swanson opened shop June 27 and will be open until July 8. According to Rebekah popular fireworks include artillery shells, parachutes and Z cakes. Rebekah explained how Z Cakes are the perfect finale piece as they light up a great portion of the sky with color. Reporter & Farmer | Annie Witt

An adage as old as time itself states corn ought to be knee-high by the Fourth of July. Even with many area farmers getting a late start on planting due to weather-related slow-downs, most corn in the area seems to be at least living up to that saying.
