Ten members attended Progressive Reading Circle Jan. 9. Gail Torrence presided. A new slate of officers was presented by the nominating committee and unanimously approved. Their duties begin in September.

Half a century behind the wheel, honoring Bullert’s years of service

For half a century, Bob Bullert has been a familiar and steadfast presence behind the wheel of Webster Area school buses. Navigating bustling streets and winding country roads with skill and dedication, Bullert’s career has spanned 50 years in Day County.

Flexibility fuels surge in alternative schooling, while critics point to lack of accountability

Drew Dittmer and his wife tried homeschooling their children in 2015.The family of six in Sioux Falls enjoyed the freedom and flexibility it allowed them. But after welcoming their fifth child, the couple sent their children back to public school to avoid being overwhelmed at home.
