Food pantryDuring the month of March, Day County Food Pantry provided food to 127 households totaling 3,567 pounds of goods. Food pantry coordinator Margaret Kwasniewski reported the pantry is in need of paper towels, tissues and bars of soap.

Catholic DaughtersCatholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Pius X 1827 met March 9 at the Parish Center with four officers and 15 members present. Officers led the Rosary; Rita Mork presided with the flag pledge. Karen Jaskulka led an Irish blessing prayer.

The phrase a “colorful personality” is fitting for Strand-Kjorsvig Living Center resident Leona Williams. Williams has been living at Strand-Kjorsvig for a year and she said she loves joking with the staff and the residents. She added, she likes to spend her free time coloring and painting.

Passing time by spending it on things or people you love

Sun Dial Manor resident, Franklyn Roitsch is an 82-year-old disabled veteran who was born and raised near Bristol. Roitsch graduated from Bristol High School and during his time there he met his future wife, Caroline.
Roger Millim said he has always loved cars and building them. At one point he owned well over 100 cars in his lifetime and really liked his 195557 Chevys. “So if one of them would blow up or whatever, we’d just go home and get another one,” joked 81-year-old Millim. A childhood passion can always live on

Roger Millim was born and raised near Webster and is the oldest in his family and has four brothers and one sister. One of his favorite things to do with his siblings while growing up was fixing cars and it left quite an impact for Millim.

Bob Grebel turned 83 March 2 and has dedicated his life towards education. He earned three master’s degrees in school administration, guidance counseling and special education. Grebel spent his career trying to stay away from the regular teaching methods and really focused on understanding students and helping them prepare for their futures. Passion and lifelong dedication to education

The older generation takes cares of the young and 83-year-old Bob Grebel is a prime example of the older generation caring for the youth. Grebel said he has a passion for education so he spent most of his life learning and teaching within his community.
