Two Bearcat girls compete at state wrestling tournament

Two Webster Area girls wrestlers attended the SDHSAA Girls State Championships Feb. 2628 in Sioux Falls and as a team placed 56th of 64 teams with two points.“We had higher hopes than what we accomplished at state which is always disappointing.

Unsportsmanlike conduct noted at state wrestling tournament

PIERRE – While no one has tracked whether it was worse than last year, officials of the South Dakota High School Activities Association noted that there seemed to be a rise in unsportsmanlike activity at this year’s state wrestling tournament.
Webster Area head wrestling coach Wade Rausch receives his 25 year coaching award from South Dakota High School Coaches Association during SDHSAA State Wrestling Championships Feb. 27 in Sioux Falls. Rausch took the helm for the Bearcats starting in 2010 after a stint coaching for Ipswich Tigers and has announced his retirement from coaching will come at the end of the school year. Wrestling duals tournament may be on the way out

PIERRE – Scheduling difficulties, as well as other factors, may lead to the demise of the state wrestling duals tournament. At its meeting March 4, members of the South Dakota High School Activities Association board of directors learned about possibility of discontinuing the tournament.
