Webster Area Bearcats headed on the road to face the Groton Area Tigers Nov. 7 with a spot in the SoDak 16 on the line. Bearcats ultimately lost in three sets, but despite the loss the team has accomplished their goals of winning the first regional round match, according to coach Emily Wagner.

Webster Area volleyball player Jersey Johnson has reached the career achievement of 1,000 digs in her position of libero against the Britton-Hecla Braves Nov. 5. Johnson, says the achievement is a result of the support from coaches, friends and family throughout her career.

Webster Area Bearcats hosted the Britton-Hecla Braves in a first round region matchup Nov. 5. The Bearcats swept the Braves in three sets, marking the first victory against Britton- Hecla this season after previously losing the past two contests.

Webster Area volleyball hopes to continue winning streak with region match looming

Webster Area Bearcats volleyball have been on a hot streak to end their regular season. Winning games over Florence/ Henry Oct. 25 and Waubay- Summit Oct. 29, the Bearcats earned the right to host a regional contest.
Freshman cross country runner Jase Voss represented Webster Area Bearcats in the state meet at Hart Ranch in Rapid City Oct. 26. Voss placed 111th out of 128 runners.

Freshman Webster Area Bearcat cross country runner Jase Voss competed at the state meet in Rapid City at Hart Ranch Oct. 26. Cross country coach Cheryl McCreary said this was a great opportunity for her runner.In the state meet, the boys competition saw 128 runners compete.

Groton Area football’s playoff dream dashed by Cavaliers

Groton Area Tigers battled against the St. Thomas More Cavaliers in the first round playoff matchup for the 11B bracket Oct. 24. The Tigers could not overcome their mistakes which resulted in a blowout loss.Coming into the game both teams finished the regular season with records of 6-2.
