Reduced price school meals help qualifying families in South Dakota

As part of a national program through South Dakota Department of Education (SDDOE) some families may qualify for free or reduced-price meals in school.Webster Area School Superintendent Dr. Jim Block said the program provides financial assistance for healthy meals to families who qualify.

South Dakota program offers aspiring farmers a rare path into agriculture

MITCHELL – Cody Kafka had dreamed of farming his own land since he began working on a farm in his teens, but that seemed unlikely without land to inherit.

Webster Head Start volunteer wins hometown hero award for 11 years of volunteering

NESD Head Start volunteer Rick Buhler was presented the annual hometown hero award by Modern Woodmen chapter of Webster for his nearly 11 years of service to the childcare nonprofit.Buhler began volunteering in early 2015 after retiring a few years early.
