DUI arrest made after car fire south of Waubay

Day County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call the evening of Aug. 14 for a vehicle on fire south of Waubay.Sheriff Jerred Schreur said the office received the call at 8:05 p.m. and deputy sheriff Garret Thompson responded along with the Waubay Fire Department who was also on scene.

Baseball complex coordinator and Webster Legion baseball coach Chad Hesla and Webster Mayor Mike Grosek received plaques Aug. 16 for baseball fields which will be named after them at Veteran’s Memorial Sports Complex in Webster. Hesla has been coaching baseball for 25 years and spent significant time fundraising and planning for the complex. Baseball fields given names to honor longtime volunteer families

Baseball complex coordinator and Webster Legion baseball coach Chad Hesla along with Webster Mayor Mike Grosek were each surprised with the renaming of a baseball field in their honor.“We’re not out there to get our names on any dang gone thing but it’s an honor,” Grosek later said.

During his surprise 70th birthday celebration Aug. 16, Webster Mayor Mike Grosek was recognized in an official proclamation from South Dakota Gov. Larry Rhoden for his 40th year as mayor and numerous contributions to the community of Webster.
