Governor signs bill authorizing spending federal rural health funding

The first bill Gov. Larry Rhoden signed into law this legislative session approves spending of federal funds for South Dakota’s Rural Health Transformation Program.The federal government awarded South Dakota $189.5 million to carry out the first year of the five-year program.

15 years ago February 7, 2011Sanford Medical Center, Webster announced that it will be offering inhouse digital mammography screening this spring thanks to a grant from the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust.

Webster Area School shows new one act play after years of not having one

Webster Area School District had a public showing of their one act play, Bus Stop, Jan. 25. According to Alicia Garrett, when she took the position as director she was informed it had been around five years since the school had performed one.
Tree saplings planted through Webster Boulevard Tree Planting Program last May stand along Main St. in Webster Jan. 29. This year with a $4,300 grant from South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Day County Conservation District Manager Josh Wagner said he hopes to plant 40-45 trees to help diversify the city’s tree population to be resistant to disease and invasive species.
