The results of a recent genetic test shook me to the core. It seems that I’m not who I thought I was.Some years ago, I sent a saliva sample for genetic testing. The test revealed, unsurprisingly, that I’m 100 percent Norwegian.

Four incidents of vehicles falling through ice

On Feb. 6 and 7 four vehicles fell through Day County lakes due to warm weather melting the lakes. According to Day County Sheriff Jerred Schreur, two incidents occurred in the evening Feb. 6 and two in the morning Feb. 7. Chief deputy sheriff Josh Hoven said the two accidents on Feb.

Webster Fire Department responds to gas leak call

Webster Fire Department responded to a call Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. regarding a gas leak odor at 705 Main St. in Webster.Assistant fire chief Eric Kwasniewski said the leak originated from a natural gas meter feed line in the building with no injuries or damage being sustained by the incident.

Waubay’s double header location topic at meeting

At the Waubay regular school board meeting Feb. 11, Brienne Soldier voiced her concern about basketball doubleheaders being mostly held in Summit. She said she is hoping in the future the games will be more evenly split because Waubay is missing out on potential proceeds.
