Since 1944 Smokey the Bear has been the symbol of protection for America’s forests and grasslands from human-caused wildfires. A little-known program that makes an impact on South Dakota schools is the Free and Reduced- Price School Meals program. The federal program which is administered through the state makes school breakfast and lunch prices either reduced or free depending on the family’s income.

Commissioners approve purchase of new vehicle for sheriff’s department

Third time’s the charm – or so it would seem as Day County Sheriff Jerred Schreur’s third presentation and ask for permission to order a new vehicle for his department was approved last week during the Day County Commissioner’s July 16 meeting.
