The anti-abortion group Life Defense Fund first challenged the legality of the signatures gathered to place the measure on the ballot earlier this summer. Minnehaha County Judge John Pekas dismissed the lawsuit because the group failed to name Johnson.
Webster Fire Department responded to a call at Webster Area school Aug. 12. A potential gas leak was the subject for the call which prompted the fire department to respond quickly. As staff were outside the school the fire department completed their work on the inside of the building. Masters Walleye Circuit tournament lures both local and tourist anglers to Webster

The Masters Walleye Circuit took place on Bitter Lake Aug. 9-10 hosted by the Webster Area Chamber of Commerce. This event drew fishermen teams from local areas and from across the nation as 84 teams were enrolled to participate in the tournament.
The pedal pull was a major attraction for many Day County youth during the Day County Fair. Three-yearold Hux, son of Justin and Tarah McClurg, participated in the pedal pull Aug. 10. The young Webster native applies force to the heavy tractor as Russell Larson provides a gentle push.
