Keeping an open door policy

MusingsWe recently replaced our front door of 30-plus years. Even though it was a much-needed upgrade, I couldn’t help but think of all that door has witnessed over the years.It fulfilled its duty by keeping out the elements while making us feel safe.

Open Meetings Commission finds multiple violations by local governments

South Dakota’s Open Meetings Commission decided Nov. 25 in Pierre that five local governments violated open meetings laws.The commission found no violation in another case, and postponed a decision on another. Written reprimands will be issued for the violations.

CORRECTION

Quilts of Valor photos were shared with each veteran’s service period. The published photo listed Staff Sergeant Wesley Monshaugen as serving in the United States Air Force November 1964 to November 1968. The corrected service dates for Monshaugen are May 27, 1961 to Nov. 1, 1968.

Weekly crop progress and condition reports end

Days suitable for fieldwork were beginning to dwindle in the final weekly version of the South Dakota Crop Progress and Condition report for the season. In the report for the week ending Nov. 24, 5.4 days were reported as suitable for fieldwork.
