A vehicle crashed into the cable barrier along SD Hwy. 25 Jan. 6 south of Webster. South Dakota Highway Patrol would not release any information pertaining to the crash as it was a non-injury event, according to Public Information Officer Brad Reiner.

Fire department responds to number of calls to start new year

Webster Fire Department responded to three calls spanning Jan. 4-6. The calls included a house fire, a potential gas leak and a crash into the cable barrier on south Hwy. 25.According to assistant fire chief Eric Kwasniewski the fire department responded to a chimney fire call the morning of Jan.

During the Day County Commissioners meeting Jan. 7, newly elected commissioners Blake Torrence and Roy Aldrich were sworn in under oath. With the new commissioners being sworn in, former commissioners Jim Walter gave a closing remark and Janet Marx received thanks for her service.

A semi truck started on fire Jan. 9 and pulled into a Webster parking lot. Here a pair of Webster firemen inspect the rig after arriving on scene. The semi driver had extinguished the flames with a personal extinguisher, seen on the right, by the time first responders arrived.
