When a farm boy goes Dutch with tulips

You might think a town with a name like Orange City would have vast orchards of citrus trees, but you would be mistaken. So much for truth in advertising.This isn’t terribly surprising given that Orange City is in northwestern Iowa, far from the citrus- growing region.
Country Kids 4-H Club completed their yearly community service project at New Sweden Cemetery. They picked up branches before mowing and planting flowers in pots. Webster Area Development Corporation (WADC) held their regular meeting May 18. Board president Kelly Hanson and Mike Bockorny took the lead and discussed the progress WADC has had and took time to discuss how to further Webster’s growth with public members in attendance.

Funeral director Dave Ninke was awarded 50 years of service for being a funeral director May 16. Ninke was the previous owner of Fiksdal Funeral Service and now works part time there.

In last week’s Primary Election questionnaire for Day County Commissioners, Jerry Mork’s information section did not mention his education. Mork has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology.There was also an error in Kelly Brandlee’s and Ben Braaten’s response to question five.
