LENNOX – Just 20 minutes away from South Dakota’s biggest city is an unexpected oasis. Chickens and geese freely roam, goats bleat for treats and a traditional barn with a shining metal roof towers over the prairie.

I was beset with numerous challenges back when I was a beginning dairy farmer. There were the ho-hum things such as wrestling with finances and farming with rickety, worn-out machinery.
A steam turbine hauled on a trailer by three semi-trucks is pulled down Main St. in Webster Sept. 8. South Dakota Department of Public Safety was unable to release details about the turbine’s exact destination or owner but a pilot vehicle driver confirmed it was going to be heading north to Canada.
