A press release by the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DNAR) about algal blooms (HABs) was sent out Aug. 27. According to the press release, DNAR wanted to remind the public to remain mindful when recreating on lakes around the state because HABs could develop rapidly and without notice. The press release states, HABs can be harmful to people, pets and livestock.
