4-H Clubs

Jolly Workers 4-H Club met March 3 at the elementary commons with 16 members present. Baylie Somsen presided. Michael Dorsett led the American pledge and Martin Dorsett, the 4-H pledge. Roll call topic was “Favorite Sport.” Secretary’s report was given by Josie Spiering.

Webster Senior Citizens met with 11 members and one visitor present. Card winners were May Gibson, pinochle; Sharon Hoffer, bridge; co-winners Jeanette Loterbauer and Ilene Stave, whist. Next meeting is June 3, 1 p.m.

Webster’s farmers market returns

Get ready for fresh produce, baked goods and other various local vendors to be back at the Webster Area Farmers Market. Starting May 28, it will run each Tuesday through Pumpkin Fest. The farmers market will be open from 4-6 p.m.

Mother’s Day guests visit

PierPont (605) 325-3307Ilene Stave accompanied her daughter Barbara and Burt Andersh, Watertown to attend the kindergarten program at Browns Valley elementary school. Summer Valnes, daughter of Tony and Brittany Valnes was among 22 kindergarteners participating. Yvonne Healy, Langford also attended.

Shauna Kjos-Miotke, owner of Fiksdal Funeral Service, was recently elected as Board President of the South Dakota Funeral Directors Association. Previously she held the title of vice president for the board.

Students learn the importance of safety during rural safety day

AttheDayCountyFairgrounds May 1 students from Webster and Waubay schools were taught by local experts the value of safety. The event, Rural Safety Day, was organized by Jennifer Ringkob and Laura Kuecker, Day County Extension 4-H Youth Program Advisor and program assistant, respectively.
