Authorities dismiss drowning rumors

Dual incidents at two local lakes earlier this month resulted in rumors of a drowning at a local lake but members of the Day County Sheriff’s Office say neither resulted in death.According to Day County Sheriff’s Deputy Garret Premus, both incidents happened at nearly 7 p.m. Sept.

Progressive Reading Circle met at Sandra Rood’s rural home for a noon potluck lunch. Sixteen members attended. Gail Torrence conducted the business meeting and read club by-laws. Treasurer Fran Rougemont collected annual dues. Rita Bloom will host next meeting Oct. 3 at Pereboom’s Cafe.

4-H CLUBS

County Line Kids County Line Kids 4-H Club met at South Dakota State Fairgrounds, Huron during the state fair Sept. 2. Adaline Larson called the meeting to order with six of nine members and one clover bud in attendance. Pledge of Allegiance and 4-H pledge were led by Isaac Ogren.
James Valley Threshing Show Sept. 6-8 hosted various antique agricultural equipment and other activities including an engine room, craft booths and a saw mill area in Andover. Starting on the left, Harris Billigmeier, Jeff Edin and Jane Larson are cutting lumber which would need to dry out. The processed lumber would then be used as the fuel source for the engine of the Case machine pictured behind the trio. Reporter & Farmer | Brenner Cariveau
