Waubay Volunteer Fire Dept. truck stolen and damaged

An arrest of 19 yearold Jeremiah Nathanial Shepherd of Browns Valley, Minnesota took place after a Waubay Volunteer Fire Department “grass rig” was reported stolen according to Day County Sheriff Jerred Schreur. Schreur said Deputy Kolby Weinberg took the report.

Webster Senior Citizens met July 7 at Webster Golf Clubhouse with eight members present. Myrene Gaikowski served lunch. Card winners were Marlys Clausen, whist and Helene Eisenbraun, pinochle. Next meeting is July 21, 1 p.m. Darlene Rumpca will serve lunch. Visitors welcome.

Legislative committee finalizes benefit cut for needy families

Starting in August, low-income South Dakota families participating in a welfare program will receive less money to spend on necessities such as gas, groceries, utilities and rent. The benefit cut is the beginning of more reductions planned in the next few years.
