Webster Area girls wrestlers battle in state tournament

Webster Area girls wrestling competed in Rapid City Feb. 27- March 1 in the SDHSAA Girls State Championship 2025. In the tournament, the Bearcats were represented by Jocelyn Rumpca and Brooke Grajczyk.

Lions long season comes to an end after regional loss

Langford Area Lions boys basketball closed out their regular season on the road in a loss against Waverly/South Shore Feb. 28. Shortly after, the Lions season came to an end as they were overpowered in Tulare against the Patriots in the Class B Region 1 first round match March 1.

Bearcats unable to handle Bulldogs’ bark in regional action

Bearcats boys basketball traveled to Aberdeen Roncalli High School March 4 to face Milbank Bulldogs in the first round match of the Region 1A bracket which resulted in a Webster Area loss.As Webster Area faced the Bulldogs in regional action it was the second matchup between the teams since Feb.

Waub ay - Summi t Mustangs traveled to Warner to face the Monarchs Feb. 27 with a spot in the Class B SODAK16 bracket up for grabs. Mustangs ultimately lost the contest after a slow start 31-47. Head coach Sarah Strang said despite the loss she is proud of the work her team put in over the season.

Kurkowski, Jorgenson and Baumgarn earn state bid as Bearcat wrestlers compete in Region 1B Tournament

Webster Area boys wrestlers participated in the SDHSAA Region 1B Tournament at Hamlin High School in Hayti Feb. 22. As the tournament finished, the Bearcat wrestlers who earned a bid to state were Haeden Jorgenson, Tayten Kurkowski and Gage Baumgarn.

Waubay-Summit girls basketball closed their regular season with a loss to the Great Plains Lutheran Panthers Feb. 20. Needing to quickly respond, the Mustangs hosted Tiospa Zina Wambdi in the first round match of 1B regional action which resulted in a one point Mustang win.

Webster Area girls season comes to a close after two straight losses to Milbank

Webster Area Bearcats girls basketball faced off against Milbank Bulldogs in the final regular season contest Feb. 20 and in the first round match of the 1A regionals Feb. 25. Bearcats lost both contests, subsequently ending their season.
