Wilbur “Willy” Selzler, 69, Watertown, died Aug. 19, 2024, at Avantara, Watertown.
Funeral services were August 23 at Fiksdal Funeral Service, Webster with Pastor Janet Miller officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery near Waubay at a later date.
Wilbur “Willy” William Selzler was born Jan. 11, 1955, to Wilbur and Ann (Baumann) Selzler. He attended school in Aberdeen and graduated from Central High School in 1974. He furthered his education at Northern State University, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in science. He worked at Safeguard for over 20 years in Aberdeen, sold tools in Watertown, repossessed cars in Rapid City, and worked at the State Penitentiary in Nebraska.
He married Julaine Flones May 20, 1994. They lived in several places before settling in Watertown to be close to family.
He enjoyed collecting guns and toy John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed classic cars, especially his baby blue Firebird. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Watertown; stepson, Chris and Amy Sass, Bradley; three granddaughters; brothers, Markcus and Linda Selzler, Aberdeen; Paul and Nancy Selzler, Yankton; one aunt, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Tracy Selzler.
