Shirley Dornbusch

Shirley Ann Dornbusch, 86, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Webster and Aberdeen, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, at Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Dell Rapids. A time to greet the family will begin one hour prior to the funeral mass. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Aberdeen.

Shirley Ann Gabriel was born on Aug. 20, 1938, in Hillsview to Peter and Elizabeth (Imberi) Gabriel. She grew up on a farm and moved to Aberdeen in 1954. She met and married Stanley Keim in 1957. Three children were born to this marriage: Neal, Lynden, and Susan. Stanley was killed

in a trucking accident in July 1964. She stayed in Aberdeen, worked for Cooks Jewelry and married Virgil Dornbusch several years later. He had three children: Leisa, Charles and David, and one son, Robert, was born to this union. They raised seven children as one family.

Shirley helped her husband, Virg, build and run Blue Buffalo Restaurant for 18 years, and later opened a Perkins Restaurant. They then moved to Webster and bought the Galley Supper Club. They owned and operated the Galley for 10 years until their retirement. Virg passed away in August 2011.

Survivors include her children: Leisa (John) Aanenson, Neal (Lucy) Dornbusch, Lyndon Dornbusch, Susan Dornbusch, and Robert (Jolene) Dornbusch; daughter-in-law, Laurie Dornbusch; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Stanley Keim and Virgil Dornbusch, sons, Charles and David Dornbusch; and brothers: LeRoy, Quentin, and Gerard Gabriel.
