Roger Kuecker, 84, Webster died Nov. 30, 2024 at Bethesda Home, Webster.
Mass of Christian burial was Dec. 7, 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, Webster. Interment was at St. Otto’s Catholic Cemetery, Webster. Visitation was Dec. 6, 5-7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. rosary service at Fiksdal Funeral Service, Webster.
Roger William Kuecker was born March 6, 1940 to Edwin Sr. and Lillian (Erickson) Kuecker at Webster. He was baptized and confirmed at United Methodist Church, Webster. He attended country school near the family home through the eighth grade and graduated from Webster High School in 1957. He attended South Dakota State University for a year and returned to Webster.
He married Carol “Tudy” Wattier Dec. 26, 1959, at St. Otto’s Catholic Church, Webster. In 1960, they purchased and operated Roger’s Cafe a couple years. In 1962, they moved to Sioux Falls where he was employed by Wright Tree Service and relocated to their Faribault, MN location. They moved to Oskaloosa, IA; Cedar Rapids, IA and Sioux City, IA where he was employed by Sun Oil Company (SONOCO). He then purchased a service station and bulk plant in Storm Lake, IA which they owned and operated until 1987. In 1987, he went into tire sales for Firestone and then Graham Tire/ Goodyear Tire, Storm Lake where he worked until retirement in 2008. They returned to Webster where he worked at the post office and Northside Implement.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Over the years he was PTA president, member of the Optimist Club, Toastmasters and Jaycees. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, woodworking, singing, puzzles, playing Farkle and cribbage. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, taking them fishing or golfing. He was a handyman and enjoyed remodeling several houses, building decks and garages, fixing cars and home projects.
Survivors include his wife, Webster; daughter, Kim and Ira Rippatoe, Sioux City; John and Laura Kuecker, Webster; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sister Betty and Jim Glosimodt, Watertown; sistersin- law, Shirley Kuecker, Deb Kuecker, Webster and Evy Kuecker, Kearney, NE; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kathy and Jay Cranston; siblings, Edwin Jr. and Mary Kuecker, Maryann and Alvin Olson, Charles and Molly Kuecker, John Kuecker, Paul Kuecker and David Kuecker.
