Roger Grimsrud, 94, Webster, died May 7, 2026, at Bethesda Home, Webster.
Funeral services were May 15, 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Webster. Burial was in Webster Cemetery.
Roger Lee Grimsrud was born April 17, 1932 to Thelmar and Anna (Rolsrud) Grimsrud at Britton. He was baptized in Kidder and confirmed at Trondhjen Lutheran Church in Marshall County, South Dakota. He attended country school in Marshall County and graduated from Britton high school in 1950.
He married Olive Leona Ives Feb. 14, 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church. They lived on the family farm near Hillhead. He was employed in several jobs. In 1966 they moved to Webster where they purchased Grue Abstract Co. and later Huron Title company.
He retired July 1, 1996 and was active in many civic and church organizations. He enjoyed volunteering and helping others. In 2007 he received the gift of life in the form of a kidney from Mark Levsen. He was a problem solver and was always happy to find a solution. He also enjoyed working on the farm with his son, golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing and his annual Canadian fishing trip with family members. When his wife moved to Bethesda Home, he moved to Heritage Apartments and later moved to Bethesda Home. Olive died Feb. 2, 2025. At the home he enjoyed playing cards, bingo and attending church services. His friends there were very important to him.
Survivors include his children, Royce and Lunette Grimsrud, Veblen; Lori and Jim Keller, Webster; brother-in-law, Darwin Ive, Claremont; seven grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
