Orris Fishbeck, 96, Webster died April 10, 2026, at Bethesda Home, Webster.
Funeral services were April 15 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Webster. Burial was at Fron Cemetery near Roslyn.
Orris Fishbeck was born Aug. 6, 1929 in Webster to John and Sophie (Strand) Fishbeck. They lived on a farm north of Roslyn and after living on a few different farms, they moved to Los Angeles, CA. In 1941 they moved back to a farm west of Roslyn.
He married Beverly Amundson Dec. 27, 1952, in Britton. They made their home at the Knute Strand farm and moved to California in 1957. In California, he worked as a heavy equipment operator, first for Artie Strand digging swimming pools and then for the California division of highways. He worked evenings for the Penny Saver printing company. They built a house in Huntington Beach in 1961. They moved back to South Dakota in October 1971 and purchased a farm southwest of Roslyn. They dairy farmed, raised hogs and small grains. They sold the dairy cattle 1989 and continued to live on the farm until 1999 when they purchased a new home in Webster. In 2021, he moved into Bethesda Home.
He was a hard worker and had a sense of humor. He enjoyed visiting with neighbors, supporting his family and friends. He enjoyed sharing memories of raising children, spending time with grandchildren, family and friends and farming.
Survivors include his children, Dianne Demarco, Eugene, OR; Sherry and Brian Sichmeller, Brian Fishbeck, Webster; Kelly and Curt Watkins, Watertown; Drs. Kevin and Donna Fishbeck, Mandan, ND; 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Dennis Amundson; one grandson; parents; brothers, Roy Fishbeck, James Fishbeck; sisters, Mildred Huggett, Denise and Pete Hook, Shirley Fishbeck; brother-in-law, Gordon and Pat Amundson, Elmer and Loretta Opsahl.
