Orlean Lardy, 89, Milbank, died Dec. 1, 2024, at St. William’s Care Center, Milbank. Visitation was Dec. 7, 1-2:30 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home, Milbank. Prayer service started at 2:30 p.m. and burial followed at 3 p.m. at Milbank City Cemetery.
Orlean Mae Monson was born April 14, 1935 in Webster, the daughter of Peter and Inga (Kleven) Monson. She spent her childhood on the family farm in Day County and graduated from Roslyn High School in 1953. She earned a one-year teaching certificate at Huron College in 1954 and began teaching grade school in various Day County schools.
She married Donald Lardy Oct. 5, 1957 in Webster. They settled in Milbank. She took on roles at Mercantile Company, Milbank Insurance and retired from Grant-Roberts Rural Water in 1997. She was a long-time member of American Lutheran Church, Milbank and later joined Living Word Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking, cooking, traveling, watching TV game shows, her home, being a homemaker and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Pam and Dave Aman, Altoona, WI; Scott and Angela Lardy, Garretson; Kevin and Anita, Sheldon, IA; Dale Lardy, Milbank; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and three brothers, Percival Monson, Elwood Monson and Roger Monson.
