Marianne Aadland

Marianne Aadland, 94, Roslyn, died April 8, 2025 at her home in Roslyn.

Memorial services will be May 3, 2 p.m. at Skudesnes Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery along with her daughter Sylvia’s remains.

Memorial visitation will be May 2, 5-7 p.m. with a 6:30 prayer service at Fiksdal Funeral Service, Webster.

Marijana Both was born July 4, 1930 in Osijek, Yugoslavia (now Croatia) to Josef and Maria Both (Latsch). She and her mother and sister Hela fled from Croatia in 1944 and she eventually moved to Germany.

She married Justin “Buddy” Aadland Jan. 13, 1956 in Augsburg, Germany. Since moving to the U.S., she worked many jobs including helping with farming and vegetable gardening. She went to work for NESDCAP in the 1970s in Sisseton where she assisted with community projects and welfare checks. For 17 years, she worked as a home health aide for the Day County Nurse’s Office doing home visits with the county nurse and providing transportation for elderly and disabled people.

After retirement in 1995, she enjoyed gardening, traveling, visiting with family and friends, and driving friends wherever they wanted to go.

Survivors include two daughters, Diana Aadland, Susan Aadland; son-in-law, James “Bud” Burnham; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister; two daughters, Sylvia and Judith (still born).
