Lois Olson

Lois Olson, 86, Bristol, died Sept. 11, 2024, at Sun Dial Manor, Bristol.

Celebration of Life service was Sept. 14 at Butler Lutheran Church, Butler with interment at Ebenezer Cemetery, Butler and Plymouth Cemetery, Mauston, WI.

Lois Maxine Whitmyre was born Oct. 11, 1937 in Webster to John and Mabel Whitmyre, Butler. She grew up on the farm near Butler. She attended country school and graduated from Webster High School in 1955. She attended Augustana College, Sioux Falls and Lutheran Bible Institute, Minneapolis, MN. She worked in Minneapolis and a brief time in Denver, CO before working as a church secretary at Edina Covenant Church, Minneapolis. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in her early 20s.

She married Pastor Edward Olson Oct. 16,1965 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Bloomington, MN. They lived in Maxbass, ND; Bristol; Kenyon, MN and Crown Point, IN before retiring in Mauston in 1998. Edward died in 2019 and she remained in their home until moving to Sun Dial Manor in June 2022.

Her faith life was important to her through the churches where they lived and she enjoyed attending devotions at Sun Dial Manor. She enjoyed homemaking, decorating, photography, oil painting, all kinds of crafts, playing cards and word games and writing letters. She enjoyed visiting family and friends and trips to Norway and England.

Survivors include one sister-in-law, Dorothy and George Pierce, Mauston; cousins, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Raymond Whitmyre, Maynard and Delores Whitmyre; several brothers and sisters-inlaw.
