Karla Hinze, 60, Watertown died Feb. 27, 2025 at Sanford USD Medical, Sioux Falls.
Funeral services were March 4 at Ortley Free Lutheran Church. Burial was at Lakewood Cemetery near Waubay.
Karla Kay Hinze was born March 16, 1964, to Eddie and Sandra (Willard) Hinze at Webster. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Waubay. She attended Waubay school and graduated in 1982. She was crowned Snow Queen that year. She furthered her education at USD, Vermillion where she earned her business degree in 1987. In 1993, she moved to Minneapolis, MN. In 1999 she relocated to West Fargo, ND and worked for the City of Moorhead and at Noridian, adjudicating medical claims. In 2023, she moved to Watertown.
While in West Fargo, she was a member of St. Paul Free Lutheran Church and Women’s Guild Group. She was active on the Fargo New Life Center board, was a member of Toastmasters in Fargo and won awards for public speaking.
She enjoyed reading, collecting, taking pictures, scrap booking, music and movies. She enjoyed thrifting, researching, visiting Fort Sisseton, camping, Winnie the Pooh and Charlie Brown. She especially enjoyed holiday and spending time with her daughter and grandsons.
Survivors include her mother; daughter, Alyssa Hinze; two grandsons; brother, Darrin and Jennifer Hinze, Misti Hinze, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her father; brother, Miles; grandparents; three aunts and a great nephew.
