Hazel Virginia Erdmann Dulitz was born December 26, 1926, to Carl and Anna (Aasland) Erdmann in Webster, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith, which remained the foundation of her life. Hazel attended school in Webster and graduated from Webster High School in 1945. She continued her education at Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, where she earned her teaching certificate.

Hazel began her teaching career in a country school near Holmquist and later taught for several years at Gellhaus Country School. On August 3, 1947, she was united in marriage to Elmer Dulitz in Webster. Together they made their home on a farm in Wheatland Township, where they worked side by side, raised their family, and lived out their faith through love, service and dedication to one another and their children: Diane, David and Paul.

Elmer preceded Hazel in death in 2007. Hazel continued to reside on the family farm until her health declined, after which she moved to Sun Dial Manor in Bristol and later to Bethesda Home in Webster. She remained at Bethesda until the time of her passing, surrounded by compassionate care.

Hazel was a devoted member of Journey of Faith Church in Webster, where she faithfully taught Sunday School for many years, sharing God’s Word with generations of children. She also served as a member of the Day County Extension Club and its board. Hazel found joy in God’s creation through gardening and time spent at the lake, and she treasured every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved deeply and prayed for faithfully.

Hazel passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in Webster, South Dakota, at the age of 99 years and 16 days. Having lived her life trusting in her Savior, she now rests in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
