Elizabeth Lange, 87, died March 4, 2026 in Rochester, MN.
Burial will be in Webster Cemetery, Webster. No formal services are planned as per her request.
Elizabeth Ann Lange was born Sept. 20, 1938 in Webster to Martin and Mabelle (Reich) Lange. She graduated from Webster High School in 1956, then attended Westmar College in LeMars, IA for one year. She graduated from Northern State Teachers College, Aberdeen in 1960 with a degree in Special Fields, followed by a master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Minnesota. She began her academic library career in 1961 at Iowa State University as a cataloger and was promoted to head of the catalog department in 1968. From 1972-79 she was head of the catalog division University Libraries at University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and from 1979-89 was assistant director of libraries for Technical Services at the University of South Carolina, Columbia. In 1989 she was Director of the Library at Winona State University, retiring in December 1983 as Dean of the Library.
Following her retirement, she moved to Rochester to be close to an aunt and uncle.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
