Donald Bisgard

Donald Bisgard, 77, died July 25, 2024, at Peace Hospice, Great Falls, MT.

Memorial service will be Sept. 28, 11 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, Great Falls. Inurnment will be at Western Montana Vets State Cemetery.

Donald (Don) Lee Bisgard was born in Webster Dec. 16, 1946, to Herbert and Rose Bisgard. He was raised in Waubay on the family farm and graduated from Waubay High School in 1964. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corp 1964-67 and serving 1965-66 in Viet Nam.

He married Kathleen Stee, Ortley Aug. 26, 1967 in Watertown. He attended Moorehead State College in 1967 and transferred to Northern State College, Aberdeen graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1970. They moved to Howard in October 1970, where he was general manager with Farmer’s Union Oil Company until June 1973. He worked at First State Bank, Redfield until January 1974, when he took a position with Cenex as district marketing supervisor in Glendive, MT for northeast and eastern Montana. He transferred to Great Falls and became district marketing manager for western Montana. He became business service manager, then regional business service manager for Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Idaho. In 1988, he became an investment executive with Piper Jaffray & Hopwood, then assistant vice president and vice president and continued to work there when it became Stifel Nicolaus. In 1989, he and a friend built M&D Construction.

He was a member of the Masons and the Shrine Club. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, at their Flathead Lake cabin and traveling in their RV.

Survivors include his wife, Great Falls; children, Melissa (Missy) Hameline, Abby and Matt Clegg, Missoula, MT; three grandchildren; brothers, Peter and Leah Bisgard, Waubay; Curtis and Betty Bisgard, Yankton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill.
