David Wasilk

David Wasilk, 70, rural Waubay, died April 27, 2026, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, MN.

Memorial services were May 8, 1 p.m. at Fiksdal Funeral Service, Webster.

David R. Wasilk was born Oct. 5, 1955 to Edward and Irene Wasilk. He grew up on the farm by Pickerel Lake, attended St. Joseph Catholic School through eighth grade and graduated from Roslyn High School in 1973. He attended Harley-Davidson Service School, Milwaukee, WI in 1976 and worked for Midwest Motor Sports, Fairmont, MN. He later opened Dave’s Cycle Repair in Fairmont, where he specialized in building and repairing Harley-Davidson motorcycles and custom trailers. He continued to be a mechanic in South Dakota, servicing boats, autos and tractors, as he farmed near Grenville. After many years of dairy farming, he focused on haying and grain crops.

He had three girls with his former wife Char Wasilk and enjoyed his grandchildren. He enjoyed talking with friends, driving his 1985 C10 pickup and fishing. He was always willing to help someone and enjoyed sharing stories and laughter.

Survivors include his children, Bobbi Westra, Emily and Thor Garness, Laura Wasilk and Tim Braun; 10 grandchildren; siblings Wayne Wasilk and Ted Wasilk.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lenny May and Danny May and his partner Natalie.
