David Jorgenson

David Jorgenson, 81, Waubay, died June 2, 2026, at Dougherty House, Sioux Falls.

Mass of Christian burial was June 9 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Waubay. Inurnment was at Lakewood Cemetery near Waubay.

David Marvin Jorgenson was born Sept. 20, 1944 to Marvin and Ruth (Peebles) Jorgenson in Watertown. He was baptized and confirmed at the Congregational church in Waubay and attended school there, graduating with the Class of 1962. Following high school, he farmed on the family farm south of Waubay.

He married Laura “Lou” Meuer Aug. 24, 1963 at St. Otto’s Catholic Church, Webster. They lived in Waubay until 1985 when they moved to the farm and continued dairy farming and crop production. They owned and operated Lakeview Drive-In and operated a catering business. In 2001, he retired from full-time farming but continued helping local farmers. They built a home west of Waubay and in 2016 moved to Blue Dog Lake.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, golfing, gardening and cooking. He enjoyed traveling, visiting Germany, Switzerland, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Hawaii, England and the Panama Canal and fishing in Alaska. He especially enjoyed time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Waubay; children, Bradley and Karla Jorgenson, Brandon; Gregg and Monica Jorgenson, Kristin and Chris Bisgard, Brookings; six grandchildren; sisters, Sheryl Steinocker, Summit and Cindi Vincent, Andover, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Lester and Leona (Becht) Meuer and brother, Brent Jorgenson.
