Daniel Block

Daniel Block, 72, Aberdeen, died April 15, 2025.

Mass of Christian burial was April 22 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Grenville. Military inurnment was at St. Otto’s Catholic Cemetery near Webster.

Daniel C. Block was born April 24, 1952, to Doris (Stromseth) and Carl J. Block at Peabody Hospital, Webster. He grew up on his parent’s farm east of Grenville. He attended District #117 through fifth grade, St. Joseph’s Catholic School sixth through eighth grades and graduated from Webster High School in 1970. He received baptism, communion and confirmation at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was an altar server at mass. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. While in the Marine Corps he received a Sharpshooter award and wrote weekly letters to his siblings at home. He was discharged in 1972. He worked for 30 years at Northern State University’s Food and Nutrition Department, Aberdeen.

Survivors include his parents, Webster; daughter, Kendra and fiancé Matt Murray, siblings, Kenneth and Terri Block, Vonore, TN; Audrey Block, Aberdeen; Ronald and Nancy Block, Webster; Joyce and Bob Gix, Cashmere, WA; Sandra Block-Hansen and Lester Hansen, Veblen; Keith Block, Wilmot; Douglas and Elaine Block, Waubay; Charles and Linda Block, Long Beach, CA.

He was preceded in death by Kathy Hengen; brother, Larry Block and sister, Mary Block, in infancy.
