David Muldoon, 78, Big Stone City died Dec. 17, 2025 at his home due to prostate cancer.
Mass of Christian burial was Dec. 22 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Big Stone City with Fr. Dan Smith, celebrant. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery, Big Stone City. The service was recorded and viewable at www.mundwilerfuneralhome. net.
David John Muldoon was born Oct. 17, 1947 to J. Arley and Irene (Deisch) Muldoon in Pierre. He graduated from Presho High School in 1965, from Black Hills State College in 1969 and University of Nebraska (MAT) in 1972.
He married Denise Peoples Nov. 26, 1971 in Mitchell. He taught at public high schools and middle schools in Stickney; Douglas, WY; Scotland, Milbank, Summit and Waubay for 48 years. He taught mathematics, chemistry, physics, computer science and photography. At Waubay and Summit he was the school computer/network tech.
He enjoyed work, fishing, hunting, photography and traveling. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Big Stone City; daughter, Laura Muldoon and Joe Frevert, Milbank; son, Matthew and Ashley Muldoon, Sioux Falls; brother, Pat and Ruth Muldoon, Gladstone, MO; one granddaughter; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Smith, Nancy Hall, infant Constance and one brother, James.
