Byron Bain

Byron Bain, 77, Webster died March 31, 2025, at his home in Webster.

Memorial services were April 5, 1 p.m. at Tabor Lutheran Church, Webster and was livestreamed. Inurnment will be later at Saron Cemetery.

Memorial visitation was April 4, 5-7 p.m., with 6:30 prayer service at Fiksdal Funeral Service, Webster.

Byron Merle Bain was born Sept. 9, 1947 to Glen and T. Arlene (Grandy) Bain in Aberdeen. They lived in the Frederick area where he attended school, worked on the family hobby farm and on his grandfather’s carpentry crew. He graduated from Frederick High School in 1965 and attended North Dakota State School of Science for auto body repair.

He married Nancy Johnson Sept. 21, 1968 at Roslyn Lutheran Church. They lived in Webster. After working various jobs, he started his own carpentry business, Odd Jobs, shingling roofs, painting houses, working on vehicles, remodeling/ repairing area homes and businesses.

He supported his children in their endeavors by attending their many activities, coaching both basketball and baseball and serving as an assistant scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts. Much of his time with his children was spent “on the job,” where he taught them about work ethic and many other important life lessons. He enjoyed playing pinochle, cribbage and horseshoes with family and friends. He also enjoyed pheasant hunting, watching westerns, his pets and was an avid bird watcher.

Survivors include his wife, Webster; children, Tammy and Mike Day, Sioux Falls; Tracy and Andy Dolney, Medford, MN; Travis and Shala Bain, Byron, MN; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild; siblings, Nancy Swanson and Bob Bray, Aberdeen; Colleen and Danne Schlomer, Glenham; Owen and Jacki Bain, Huron.

He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Herbert and Vernice Johnson.
