LeRoy Ceroll, 88, Cloquet, MN died Jan. 7, at his daughter’s home in Cloquet.
Mass of Christian burial was Jan. 17, 2025 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Webster. Military honors followed outside the church.
LeRoy Arthur Ceroll was born May 25, 1936 to Emil and Helen (Hanson) Ceroll in Sisseton. He was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Claire City. He grew up on a family farm where he attended rural elementary school and graduated high school in New Effington. He participated in FFA, chorus and class plays. He helped his dad on the farm until he joined the U.S. Army. He worked for the Federal Stamping Company, Minneapolis, MN.
He married Bonnie Hovland Dec. 17, 1966. They lived in Minneapolis their first year then moved to the Ceroll family farm. He quit farming in 1991 and began to work at Dakotah Inc., Veblen and later at the Dakotah plant in Webster, retiring in 1998. He also worked for Webster Small Engine Repair and as a custodian for the Webster School District before fully retiring in 2006. He joined Christ the King Church Oct. 27, 2000.
He married Vendella Gruby and they lived in Webster. They were active in church activities such as choir, greeter, usher, cantor, financial secretary and more. They enjoyed dancing, traveling and meeting friends while involved in community activities.
He enjoyed golfing, waterskiing, boating, playing cards and skating. He especially enjoyed his family. He was a member Knights of Columbus, served as grand knight in council 4903 in Webster and Waubay and accomplished 4th Degree honors. He was a Webster Museum of Wildlife, Science and Industry board member and volunteered for many organizations including helping with Make A Wish Foundation. He enjoyed driving his Farmall H in tractor runs and helping with pancake feeds.
Survivors include two daughters, Lori Ceroll Runstrom and Richard Leone, Kathie Ceroll and Troy Bendt; son, Jeremy Ceroll; stepdaughter, Lynn and Jerry Maag; brother, Virgil and Nancy Ceroll; sister- in-law, Janet Ceroll; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marvin Ceroll; wife, Vendella Ceroll; brother-in-law, Ronald Ceroll; daughter, Julie Ceroll and stepson, Duane Gruby.
