Norbert Gruba, age 87, Watertown died Sept. 9, 2024 at Edgewood Memory Care, Watertown.
Funeral services were Sept. 14, 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Watertown. Father Shaun Haggerty was celebrant.
Burial was at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Watertown. Active pallbearers were Jeremy German, John Danielson, Tim, Steve, Terry and AJ Meland, Norbert J. Gruba was born July 25, 1937, in Webster to Frank and Helen (Pekron) Gruba. He attended school in Grenville. He lost his father at a young age and he stayed on the family farm until 1983. He moved to Watertown and worked at Superior Homes.
He married Helen Benthin June 20, 1997 in Watertown. They enjoyed bus trips, dancing, pitching horse shoes, playing pinochle, gardening and reading.
He was a member of IC Catholic Church, participated in the choir and many other activities. He has resided at Edgewood since last July, where he enjoyed the staff and his time there.
Survivors include his wife, Watertown; two brothers, Jim and Shirley Gruba, Duluth, MN; Kenny Gruba, Grenville; four sisters, Joanne and Bob Meland, Sisseton; Lucille and Garry Smith, Box Elder; Diane Gruba, Maxine and Henry German, Watertown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Janis Martinson; one infant brother; one brother, Francis Gruba and one nephew.
