Jerry Hanson, 86, Mesa, AZ, died Jan. 8, 2024 after a two year battle with heart disease.
Memorial service and interment was June 3 at National Memorial of Arizona, Phoenix, AZ with Pastor Michael DeKraai officiating.
Jerry Allen Hanson was born Oct. 15, 1937 to Jens and Agnes Hanson in Webster. He graduated from Webster High School and South Dakota State University.
In 1959 he married Jeannine Molstad. He began his ROTC commitment to the U.S. Air Force in 1960. For the next 14 years he served as a transportation officer, attained the rank of major and was awarded the Bronze Star. He worked for 20 years on the North Slope in the Alaska oil fields as a civilian. They retired in Mesa in 2002 and spent summers in Alaska. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Lori, Teresa, Gail, Cheryl, Jennifer; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Donat; two brothers, Jerome and Richard.
