Incumbents ousted in election

Results of the June 4 primary election are in and show a turnover in county leadership.Challenger Roy Aldrich pulled the superior level of support over incumbent Jim Walter in the Day County Commissioner District 4 race by a 66-34 percent margin.

Adventure into public libraries for summer reading program

Webster Public Library started their summer reading program May 29 which will go through the end of June, while the Waubay Public Library summer reading program will begin June 12 and end July 10.

South Dakota dedicating bridge to local fallen heroes

This summer the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs will be hosting 12 fallen hero bridge ceremonies honoring 15 veterans. One of those ceremonies will be held in Bristol.The ceremony in Bristol will be honoring the three brothers, RM2 Eugene L., RM2 Ordien F., and LT Leroy M. Herr.

Noem announces Tribal public safety crisis summit

PIERRE – Governor Kristi Noem announced she will be hosting a Tribal Public Safety Crisis Summit in Pierre June 24. Gov. Noem is inviting both elected leaders and law enforcement officials at the federal, state, local, and tribal levels. She announced the Summit in a video.
